A Family Labor of Love
This cemetery has been in my family for over 30 years. It was acquired in 1974 by my parents, Don & Lois Hartje, not long after their first young son was buried there. The previous owner was not able to care for the property properly, and so it was decided by my parents that they would take the cemetery, so that they could ensure that their son's resting spot would always be taken care of. It wasn't long after acquiring Rest Haven, that the idea for a pet cemetery was suggested, and so Pet Haven came into being in 1975. In the many years that have passed, we've buried an estimated 1500 pets, including our own beloved dog Benji, and we've also laid to rest in this peaceful piece of land, my grandparents, and later, my parents.
As a child, working alongside my father each summer, he taught me how important the work that we do is. We watch after your family member as though they are our family member. And since my father's passing just a few years ago, we've made it our mission to make you feel peaceful when you visit your loved one, and bring you comfort in knowing that even when you're away, they are being watched over.
